Nearly 43 million Americans, including more than 14.5 million children, are hungry or food insecure. In South Florida, there are nearly 784,110 people at risk of hunger, and more than 264,280 children in South Florida are going to bed, and to school, hungry. Yet every year, millions of pounds of food that is unwanted or unsalable is discarded by the food industry.
Why send food to the landfill when it can help a family? By donating your company’s surplus wholesome foods, you can help hungry South Floridians while benefiting your bottom line. You can help us alleviate hunger in our communities while continuing to thrive as a business by donating unwanted food and surplus inventories to Mobile School Pantry. We make it easy for large and small food companies to work with us.
MSP documents food donations, and food donors are given a receipt that records the amount donated. Once the food is received, it is distributed to families in need. You are welcome to visit a Mobile School Pantry distribution site to see how we distribute your donation.

What to Donate
MSP accepts anything from cases to truckloads of food and non-food items that are dry-stored, frozen, fruits and vegetables, meat products, or surplus; and for any of the following reasons: surplus or seasonally packaged, cosmetically damaged or code-dated, unlabeled or mislabeled, discontinued or test-market, private-label brands, or under/over-weight items.
The 1976 Tax Reform Act allows companies to deduct costs associated with donating food to nonprofit organizations.
In addition to tax benefits, save money by donating products to Mobile School Pantry rather than throwing it away.
Food donations help reduce your surplus of hard-to-move inventory that cannot be sold.
MSP promotes its food donors through a variety of marketing, including our website, news releases and social media.
Your support will earn the respect of the community at large, as well as employees and industry peers.
You are Protected
The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Donations Act is a federal law ensuring that donors are protected from any civil and criminal liability if donated products somehow cause harm to a recipient to encourage donations of food and grocery products to non-profit organizations for distribution to needy individuals.
